one of the most flattering dress styles to hide the tummy is the empire dress, but annoyingly they’re not that easy to buy unless you’re pregnant and then you’ll find plenty in the maternity sections.

When you’re trying to find an empire line dress, look to see how full the skirt is, the less gathered and the straighter the cut the more flattering it will be this is a very feminine one, it’s got a lovely fitted bodice.

Some examples of empire line dresses could be, a ballerina-style dress or a full-skirted dress with a fitted bodice.

wrap dresses come in looser styles and more fitted styles too, it really depends on what you feel most comfortable in.

there are lots of great wraps dresses out there that will do a fantastic job at trying to disguise the belly area.

Knot dress

A dress with a knot or a tie at the front is magical at hiding the tummy, the extra detailing covers and camouflages the area brilliantly.

This dress has a clinched-in waistline so we’ll define your waist and highlight your feminine curves, the knot detailing drapes right across the belly and hangs loosely to add some coverage which will make you feel more confident.

This is a great example of when ruching doesn’t work, it hits just under the bust and then the belly pokes out just underneath it highlighting the very area that you’re trying to cover rather than disguising it.

Again this is a style of dress that comes in lots of different shapes and sizes, so you can really find one to suit your body type and your personal style.

Ruffles Dresses

just like the knotted dress, ruffles do a great job of giving extra coverage across the belly, the pretty bodice on this dress draws the eyes upwards but, also provides lots of tummy coverage

these two will also do a great job of hiding the belly bulge.

Also, the ruffles dress is great for pear shapes as it will add some extra volume to the top half of your body to balance out your hips.

The optical illusion dress used to be quite a big trend a few years back, now and then they sort of disappeared, and it’s a real shame because they do a great job at trying to hide the tummy, this dress has so many things going for it, it’s in a wrap style so it already has a good head start the two-tone fabric gives the illusion of making the body look narrower than it is, and subsequently makes the tummy area look smaller.

The crossed-over ruching at the front is very slimming as it pulls you in at the waist and then flows out over the stomach to disguise any lumps or bumps.

This is a great style of dress to go for if you’re looking for something a little bit different but, also want to make sure that your tummy is covered.

Another trick is to pair it with the most gorgeous bag, and then no one will be looking at your tummy as everyone will be admiring your bag.
